Birthday

Well, It's been a while, but I thought I'd finally post about Jacob and My birthday July 18th. It was a very relaxing and laid back. I worked duri

ng the day, but that night my family took us out to Mazzottis, a delicious italian restaurant then to an ice cream shop down town. From there, we walked around Old Town and our Boardwalk with our ice cream. It was really fun!

Does anyone know how to upload the picture so we

can have captions with it? I've seen other blogs where people upload the pictures and there is a box around it with captions. Just wondering...
(I just thought these two pictures were cute..,

New Carpet!

Well, it's been a while! Last week we got back from a trip to relatives house in Petaluma for four nights, and then a stay in Willow Creek for four nights. It was a very relaxing vacation and great to soak up the sun, but boy, were we ready to come home by the end!

Today, we just got new carpet!!!!! (Thanks Carpet Express!) We had a furniture moving party Sunday after church with some of the boys in our church and got all the furniture moved out, so Monday they could install the carpet. The fun part was that we were basically camping in our house that night with matresses on the floor and empty bedrooms :) It is so nice and makes the house look much nicer! I added a couple pictures so you can see the difference.

Lately I have been hearing that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I would easily fall into condemnation about things I say or think or do, and cannot in my own power over come that. (It is truly just a trick to get us caught up in ourselves, so that we cannot see others around us) Thankfully, I have faithful friends and parents who can see that in my and call my sin out and then forgive it! What a freedom it is that we do not have to carry our own sin, but Christ became sin for us. We can then be free of that and actually serve and love our neighbors (even the unloveable) :)

Yard Sale and more...

Well today, Payton, Jacob, and McKenna decided to have a yard sale! What a great idea for a Tuesday afternoon, right? :) It was so funny, they sat out there all afternoon and waited for "customers".... They made $2. Everytime a car drove down the street, Payton would perk up and say, "Customer?!" and to his dismay, they would pass right on by. Even at the dinner table, Payton heard a person outside the house and got up and looked out the front door hoping it would be a customer... they are so funny!

My little friend, Eleanor :)
Isn't she cute?!

On another note, hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

A Day On The River!

Well, my dad and I just got back from a full day of rafting with 10 of our young people and Mr. Salinger. The rapids were a blast, and we had fun pushing people out of the rafts or jumping out; we even got to float down the rapids with our life jackets. We hope to make it an annual thing! It was also about 100 degrees there too! The most important thing is fellowship, though; just getting to enjoy eachother and God's beautiful creation...

C.S. Lewis Quote

Here are a few quotes that we read in school and were very blessed by...

"Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other... God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing."

~ C.S. Lewis Mere Christianity

“Do not waste time bothering whether you ‘love’ your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love him. If you injure someone you dislike, you will find yourself disliking him more.” (p. 131)

Christ says "Give me All. I don't want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much of your work: I want You.” (p. 196)

“Give up your self, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death, death of your ambitions and favorite wishes every day and death of your whole body in the end: submit with every fiber of your being, and you will find eternal life. Keep back nothing. Nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours. Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.” (p. 227)

“Aim at Heaven and you will get earth ‘thrown in’: aim at earth and you will get neither.” (p. 134)

I still have alot of videos I want to post, but we'll see when I can get them uploaded :)

Last Day of School

Since Thursday was our last day of school, we had a party and bbq! We made burgers, homemade fries (even deep fried them ourselves), milkshakes, and salads. The middleschool set up little stands for lemonade, cupcakes, face painting, popcorn, and more! It was a really enjoyable day and very nice atmosphere (especially since the sun came out). It didn't hit me until Friday morning that I wasn't going back to school :( But I do get to go back as a student teacher, so that will be fun! The funny thing is, you look back on a school year (or on a life) and go, "why did I hold that against them so long, and not just enjoy _(fill in the blank) ?" The great news is that Christ has forgiven us and is the end of the law, and truly, everyday is an adventure! Life is such a blessing when it is not about me, but when each day comes from Christ, then we can look to our neighbors and enjoy them for who they are.
Well anyway, after the party Thursday, we had the "Last
Day of School/Graduation Night". We filmed, but I'm still trying to figure out how to upload video, so I might post some footage later. For now, here are a few pictures from our party Thursday.

Last Day of School

Well,
Today was officially my last day of school (in a uniform, as a student). I must admit, it was a little sad walking out of the building, realizing it was the last time I will do that(as a student). Luckily, I'm not going anywhere! I'm being reminded that God has a plan for my life, and am blessed that a way is already being made for me. Although I won't be a student anymore, I will still be learning!

I also got a FlipSlide today! I'm soo excited! I will be posting video soon...
Well, gotta go, but I'll be posting soon... probably some video and pictures from tomorrow nights' graduation.

Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.

Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.

~Psalm 119:33-41

Memorial Day

We had a wonderful and very relaxing Memorial Day today! We're watching "The King's Speech" right now too. I'm (Miranda) looking forward to fully enjoying these last two weeks of school before I graduate, although I won't be going anywhere :) I'll try to get some pictures up on the blog soon too. Oh yah, I just ordered a Flip video camera today for a graduation gift- can't wait to start using it! We also had some friends over from Seattle who used to work for my dad (my dad was even the Best Man in their wedding)

That's Boys for Ya!
Well, gotta get back to the movie :)
Also want to thank all of those men and women who daily put their life on the line for our country's safety.

And lastly, the scripture for the day:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will not we fear....

~Psalm 46:1-2

Just a side note...

Our New Blog!

Well, after enjoying and being blessed by many other blogs, we decided to start our own! We'll see how long this lasts :)

Thinking about posting a scripture a day, so here's for today!

33Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

34Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

35Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

36Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

37Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

38Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

39Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.

40Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

~Psalm 119:30-40
